Samsung One UI 7 Update Breaks Google Sports Integration in Now Bar for Some Users

Date:

Samsung’s rollout of One UI 7 hasn’t been entirely smooth for everyone. In addition to issues with features like homescreen rotation, users are now raising concerns about the Now Bar—specifically, that the Google Sports integration isn’t working properly, or in some cases, not appearing at all.

The Now Bar is designed to display dynamic, real-time content at the top of the screen, such as timers, navigation details, and live updates like sports scores. The feature is meant to deliver scores from teams followed in the Google app, providing quick access without needing to open another app. However, since the update, some users say these live scores aren’t showing up as expected.

Users on Reddit and Samsung’s forums have shared their experiences, saying they’ve followed all the right steps—selecting their favorite teams in the Google app, enabling notifications, and adjusting relevant settings—but still don’t see any scores in the Now Bar.

One Reddit user, hardwellmouad, mentioned that they couldn’t even find the Google Sports option in the Now Bar settings, while others on the same device model claimed they had it. Another user noted that sports info only appeared if the corresponding notification hadn’t been dismissed, suggesting that active notifications might be necessary for the feature to trigger.

On Samsung’s own forums, a user named Sharath_Ramesh shared similar frustrations. Despite setting up their interests in the Google app and turning on notifications, the Now Bar showed no trace of the sports feature. They even posted screenshots to highlight the missing option.

Reports seem to vary. Some users say certain leagues, like the IPL or English Premier League, show scores as expected. Others say leagues like Australian football or rugby aren’t appearing at all, raising the question of whether the issue is tied to specific sports feeds or regions.

Many have tried common troubleshooting methods—uninstalling and reinstalling apps, clearing cache, re-following teams, and rebooting devices. A few users said that updating the Google app helped, at least temporarily, while others noted no improvement.

Samsung appears to be collecting feedback and error reports through its forums. Moderators are requesting logs to investigate the issue further. For now, users are hoping that a proper fix is on the way to restore the intended sports experience in the Now Bar.
