X Users Hit by Bug That Makes GIFs Stretch Down the Entire Screen

Date:

Many users on X (formerly Twitter) are experiencing a strange bug where GIFs in replies expand endlessly, stretching vertically and pushing other content down the page. This creates an infinite scroll effect that makes the platform difficult to use.

The issue involves GIFs that, instead of displaying normally, continue growing downward without stopping. This behavior forces everything else on the screen to move, making it nearly impossible to interact with the content properly.

Some users have described how this happens primarily in Chrome, where a GIF in the comments stretches downward continuously. As the GIF grows, it causes the entire screen to scroll automatically, making the page unusable.

Others have noted that the GIF keeps expanding even while they’re typing a response. The growing image forces the screen to scroll down, making it difficult to write or interact with any other part of the platform.

The bug doesn’t appear to affect everyone equally. It has been reproduced on Chrome using certain Android devices, while other platforms like macOS and mobile apps seem unaffected. However, videos shared online show that it does occur for some users on desktop browsers as well.

There’s currently no official explanation or fix. Until a resolution is provided, affected users will likely continue dealing with this disruptive and bizarre glitch.
