August 18, 2025 – Spotify is reportedly working on a new DJ mixing feature that could bring professional-style tools directly into the music streaming app. The first leaked screenshots of Spotify’s Mixing tool were shared by tech researcher Jane Manchun Wong on X, showing a full DJ-style interface with waveform displays, crossfade options, beat matching, and a multi-track timeline.
Wong compared the feature to Apple Music’s AutoMix, but noted that Spotify’s approach appears more advanced, giving users the ability to customize transitions by beat, effects, and waveform—essentially handing them DJ-level control inside the app.
Speculation around this feature ties back to Spotify’s long-rumored “playlist pro” tools. As reported by TechCrunch, the company has been experimenting with remixing capabilities, including tempo adjustment, auto-ordering by key, and transition effects, potentially bundled under a premium “Music Pro” tier.
Not all fans are convinced. On Reddit’s Spotify community, one user remarked:
“Looks like something to be discontinued in one year after release. Looks too good.”
Still, excitement is building among casual listeners and amateur DJs who see this as a chance to bring mixing creativity into everyday playlists. Gadgets360 also highlighted that the leaked interface could represent Spotify’s attempt to differentiate itself from rivals with more interactive music experiences.
If officially released, Spotify’s DJ mixing tool could transform the way users engage with playlists—shifting from passive listening to a hands-on, real-time audio mixing experience.
