Apple Music Glitch Separates Albums, Users Demand Fix

Date:

Apple Music users are encountering a persistent bug that causes albums in their libraries to split into multiple entries, complicating navigation and organization. This issue, which has surfaced in recent weeks, randomly separates songs from the same album into different listings. Affected users across various platforms, including iOS devices and the web version, have reported instances where albums are fragmented, with some tracks appearing under “Unknown Artist” despite correct tagging.

The problem appears to be longstanding, with some users noting its recurrence over the years, but it has become more prevalent recently, possibly linked to a recent update. Frustrated subscribers have been exploring temporary solutions. One approach involves manually editing the metadata for each track using the Apple Music desktop app, ensuring that the ‘album artist’ and ‘album’ fields are consistent across all songs. Another method includes marking and then unmarking an album as a ‘compilation.’

Other attempted fixes comprise deleting the affected albums from the library and re-adding them, or clearing the app’s cache and reinstalling it. However, these remedies are often time-consuming and not consistently effective, with the bug sometimes reemerging. Many users are now hoping for a resolution in an upcoming software update, as the manual workarounds are particularly burdensome for those with extensive music collections.
