Samsung is positioning itself to broaden the AI capabilities on its Galaxy flagship phones rather than relying heavily on a single system like Google’s Gemini. Executives confirmed active discussions with companies such as OpenAI and Perplexity AI to integrate multiple AI agents into future devices. This move would give users the flexibility to choose from different assistants depending on context and preference.
According to Samsung’s mobile division chief, Choi Won‑Joon, the company is open to integrating any competitive AI service that offers a compelling experience. Reports suggest Galaxy’s upcoming flagship model—likely the Galaxy S26 series—could support multiple AI platforms, potentially including a built-in investment or partnership with Perplexity AI to bring its search and assistant features directly to Samsung users.
This shift is part of Samsung’s larger strategy to establish “AI for All” by embedding smarter intelligence across its Galaxy ecosystem, from smartphones to wearables and home appliances. Having collaborated extensively with Google Gemini in the past, Samsung now seems intent on offering a more diversified AI toolkit. It already ships Galaxy AI features—like photo editing, translation, call transcription, and personalized summaries—as part of One UI 7 and 8 on devices such as the Galaxy S25.
Industry analysts view this as a response to growing competition: Apple is building its own AI ecosystem, and Google continues expanding Gemini’s presence. Samsung’s approach mirrors Apple’s recent strategy of integrating third-party innovations—with the goal of delivering the most adaptable, capable AI assistant on Android. It could also mean reduced reliance on Qualcomm chips, with Samsung evaluating both Snapdragon and its own Exynos 2600 processor for the next model cycle.
This evolution underscores Samsung’s aim to amplify user choice and avoid vendor lock-in. By enabling multiple assistants—from its own Galaxy AI engine to external systems like OpenAI’s and Perplexity’s—Samsung hopes to create a more personalized and versatile mobile AI environment.
