Discord Glitch Sends Notifications from Muted Channels – Here’s What We Know

Some Discord users have recently reported a frustrating bug causing them to receive notifications from muted channels and direct messages. Complaints have been surfacing across Reddit and X, with many users stating they are being alerted by conversations they had previously silenced.

The majority of these reports appear to come from iOS users who have updated both their operating systems and the Discord app to the latest versions. One user noted they started receiving notifications from channels they had muted long ago, and wondered if a recent update might be the cause.

Another user shared on Reddit that despite their notification settings clearly stating muted channels shouldn’t trigger alerts, they were still receiving them. The post quickly gained traction, with others confirming they were facing the same issue.

The notifications being received are not from @everyone or @here mentions. Users are instead being pinged for regular messages in muted channels. In group DMs, similar problems have been reported, with muted chats still sending notifications. One person even mentioned they were unsure if their experience was typical, as they hadn’t used group chats before. However, the growing number of similar complaints suggests the issue is widespread.

So far, Discord has not made any official statement regarding the bug. Some users have attempted temporary fixes such as disabling mobile push notifications completely or reapplying mute settings with different durations. However, these solutions have offered minimal success. For communities that rely on Discord for communication, unexpected alerts from muted chats are more than just a minor annoyance.

At this point, it’s unclear whether the problem is tied to a specific app update or a server-side issue. For now, users can only wait and hope that Discord resolves the bug soon.
