Thousands of TikTok Users Locked Out of Their Accounts — Here’s What We Know So Far

Date:

If you suddenly found yourself staring at the TikTok login screen and couldn’t get back into your account, you’re not alone. A growing number of users are reporting being unexpectedly logged out of TikTok and then unable to log back in — with no warning or explanation.

From what users are sharing on Reddit and X, everything seems normal one moment — they’re scrolling through their For You Page or reviewing drafts — and then, without any action on their part, they’re booted out of the app. Attempts to sign back in fail, even when using correct credentials or newer login methods like passkeys.

One Reddit user, BoredBlaby, said that even trying to use their passkey led nowhere, only resulting in an error message reading, “Something went wrong. Try again later.” Others are encountering more severe notices stating their accounts are outright locked, despite having no idea why.

With so many users reporting similar problems simultaneously, this doesn’t appear to be a case of forgotten passwords or simple user error. As Reddit user updog123456789 put it, “This is happening to me right now. TT telling me my account is locked.” That comment echoes the growing chorus of frustrated users.

Similar reactions are cropping up on X (formerly Twitter). User @HeartthrobPB shared their confusion: “Well that’s a b**ch. I was going through some drafts in my TikTok account, and I got logged out and informed the account is locked. WTF?!” With so many users reporting lockouts around the same time, it seems likely this is a technical issue or a widespread glitch on TikTok’s end.

To make matters worse, some users are starting to worry that their accounts may have been hacked, especially in light of previous incidents involving unauthorized access. For those trying to reset their passwords or regain access, many hit another wall. As @ariscupcakexx tweeted, “me too, when I go to reset my password it tells me I’m locked.”

Several users even posted screenshots showing a message from TikTok clearly stating that their accounts have been locked. Unfortunately, reaching TikTok’s support team has proven difficult for many, and some say they’re receiving little to no help through official channels — a frustrating situation for anyone with years of videos and followers tied to their account.

At this point, TikTok hasn’t issued a widespread official statement explaining what’s going on. But based on the sheer number of reports, it looks like a platform-side issue, not a mass user error. If that’s the case, affected accounts will likely be restored once the issue is resolved.

For now, if you’re one of the many stuck on the login screen, know that you’re not alone. Thousands are in the same position, hoping for answers and a quick fix. We’ll be watching for any updates and will share more information as soon as TikTok provides clarification or resolution.
