Spotify is quietly rolling out a new toggle that finally lets users hide the controversial Create button from the mobile app’s navigation bar. This feature has been widely requested ever since the button’s introduction. It’s tucked away under Settings → Content and display, where a simple switch lets users remove the button entirely.
The Create button was added a few months ago to simplify playlist creation—especially collaborative or AI-generated ones—but it quickly frustrated users by disrupting established muscle memory and cluttering the bottom navigation. Community forums and idea submissions consistently called for an opt-out option.
An APK teardown of Spotify version 9.0.58.206 revealed hidden code strings indicating the upcoming toggle, referencing settings like “Create button” and “The Create button will appear in your navigation bar.” This signaled Spotify might be preparing a user-facing control to disable the button entirely.
Recently, several Android users on app version 9.0.64.608 discovered the toggle live in their settings, while others on 9.0.64 didn’t yet have it—suggesting Spotify is testing the feature quietly and rolling it out gradually across versions and regions. Some users reported the button vanishing before the toggle appeared, further hinting at a phased deployment.
Response from users has been overwhelmingly positive. On Reddit, one user posted:
“Yeah, just got it and immediately turned it off.”
Others thanked contributors for sharing its location, relieved to clean up their navigation bar.
If you don’t see the setting yet, hang tight—Spotify is expanding access in coming updates. In the meantime, the new toggle shows the company is listening and responsive to user feedback.
