WhatsApp Not Working on iPhone: Blank Screen Issue Affects Many

Date:

Some iPhone users have encountered an unusual issue with WhatsApp, where the app displays a blank white or black screen upon launch, rendering it unusable. This problem often arises immediately after installing or reinstalling the app. Reports indicate that the issue affects various iPhone models, including older ones like the iPhone 6 and newer models such as the iPhone 7 running iOS 15.8.4.

WhatsApp officially supports devices running iOS 15.1 and newer. However, starting May 2025, support for iPhone 5s, 6, and 6 Plus has been discontinued, regardless of the iOS version. This discontinuation explains the blank screen issue on these older models. Surprisingly, users with supported devices and iOS versions have also reported similar problems, suggesting a potential bug.

Users have attempted various troubleshooting steps, including deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting the phone, and clearing the cache, but these methods have not resolved the issue. Some users have found a temporary workaround by using WhatsApp Business instead of the standard app. This alternative has allowed them to access their messages without encountering the blank screen.

The root cause of the problem remains unclear. It could be an intentional limitation for unsupported devices or an unintended bug affecting supported ones. Users experiencing this issue are advised to try WhatsApp Business as a temporary solution and await further updates from WhatsApp for a permanent fix.
